I’ve gone through many phases of makeup styles. Growing up, I used to hate wearing makeup. Now, I know “hate” is a strong word, but I did. I truly would itch at the thought of having to put on makeup. Gradually, as I got older and practiced more, I got pretty darn good. Good enough that a friend of mine asked me do her makeup for her wedding…HER WEDDING!
Lately, I really have not given a damn about my hair and makeup. Not because I don’t have the patience or because I don’t want to do so but recently, I have been waking up a bit earlier to work out and it has been more of a priority then getting super dolled up. Don’t get me wrong, I love getting ready! I have an area dedicated just to getting ready set up with proper lighting and all that jazz. On the weekdays, I don’t exactly want to take the time to blend blend blend my eye shadow and do a crease cut for a staff meeting. But I’ve nailed down the time it takes me to do my weekday/no makeup-makeup look to 15 minutes. Which says a lot because it used to take me about an hour to do the whole shebang!
When I wake up, I wash my face with Mary Kay’s 4-in-1 cleanser (which is my all-time favorite) and then I moisturize with Aveeno Positively Radiant. Depending on if I’ll be out and about a lot or if it’s a “dealing with the boss” kind of day I’ll prime my face with MAC’s coconut Prep + Prime and then begin my makeup routine with my brows. My all time go to is the NYX Tame & Frame Tinted Brow Pomade in Brunette then brushing NYX Tinted Brow Mascara in Chocolate to help keep my brows in place. Honorable mention: Pop Beauty Peak Performance Brow in Natural Brunette is also one of my favs! After brows, again, depending on the day I’ll use Mary Kay’s CC Cream in medium to light or Physicians Formula Mineral Wear in Medium Beige.
Today, I used the Mineral Wear. It’s super lightweight, easy but messy to apply and looks extremely natural. Shout out to Melinda for introducing me to this product, much appreciated! My all-time favorite concealer is the Shape Tape from Tarte in the color Light-Medium. I tend to like it a bit lighter under my eyes then most, but this concealer is full coverage and long lasting. If I want a more natural look, I’ll use Bye Bye Undereye from IT Cosmetics. After concealing, I set my undereye with Mary Kay’s Translucent Loose Powder. BECCA FUN FACT: I used to sell Mary Kay a few years ago and honestly, I’m still a huge fan of their product…can you tell? After setting my concealer, I bronze up the face with Hoola from Benefit and use a bit of blush, which my favorite is Milani’s Baked Blush Luminoso but today I used Skinny Dip from Finding Ferdinand. Then I highlight with Mary-Lou Manizer from The Balm. I typically use this one on a day-to-day as it’s a subtle highlight but enough to give me the look I want. And finally, I add Power Up Mascara from Butter London and BAM! Handled!
I created a mellow playlist called ‘dayfade’ and originally, I had a relaxing-laying-out-on-an-oversized-pool-floatie vibe in mind for this playlist, but it was perfect for my morning. Let me know a few of your all-time favorite or honorable mentions for products so I can test them out.
